The NCF suggested in a written statement it submitted in the framework of the 49 session of the UNHRC a number of reforms to further improve respect for human rights in Bahrain in a number of issues of concern to them, namely the need for free elections, freedom of expression, women's rights and citizenship revocation.

The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society condemned the participation of Bahraini Foreign Minister, Abdullatif Al-Zayani, at the Negev summit held on Monday, March 28, 2022 in an occupation settlement, with the participation of foreign ministers of the normalizing countries with the Israeli foreign minister.

Devin Kenney, GCC Researcher at Amnesty International, demanded the release of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman.

The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society delivered a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, indicating that the people of Bahrain are deprived of their most basic rights stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The conference held by Al-Wefaq to launch a human rights report in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, is not the first Bahraini opposition activity, and will not be its last, of course. However, we can say that this conference included no provocation to the regime in Bahrain that would evoke all this alerting.

Human rights activist Yousif Rabei stressed that "We don't have any problem with the Lebanese state. We respect Lebanon and its peculiarity as being a minaret for freedom of expression."

Following the Lebanese Interior Minister directives to deport Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society members outside Lebanon, the Lebanese National Human Rights Institution called on the government to respect the principle of non-refoulement.
