Bahrain Mirror: Maryam Al-Khawaja announced in a tweet on the "X" platform that her father, prisoner of conscience Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, has resumed his hunger strike.
"Despite the good faith of my father Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja with the Jaw Prison administration and the suspension of his hunger strike last week, on condition that he be transferred to an appointment with a cardiologist this week, the administration did not abide by its promise and he was not taken to the appointment, so my father decided to resume his strike today," Maryam said.
Maryam had said in a previous tweet that her father decided to suspend his hunger strike and give the Bahraini authorities an opportunity until Tuesday to prove their good faith by taking him to see a cardiologist and receive appropriate treatment, after he had been taken to see an ophthalmologist. The doctor prescribed him treatment in a move she referred to as a "show" by the authorities.
In the same tweet, Mariam pointed out that her father was prescribed appropriate treatment for his eyes, but she does not know if he is actually receiving it.
