Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society confirmed that the aim of the Interior Ministry's announcement of its reopening of prisons is "to arrest every citizen who thinks about expressing his opinion or demanding his rights."

Al-Wefaq noted in a statement that "arrests return in February 2023 coincided with the 12th anniversary [of February 14 uprising] in which Bahrainis once again expressed their demand for democratic transition, social justice, and Bahrain's need for an inclusive and comprehensive political project."

It stressed that "the policy of arrests and filling prisons with citizens is an irrational policy that reflects security and human rights chaos and clearly reveals that the government of Bahrain is on the wrong path, and that it lacks the most basic elements of political stability. At the same time, it confirms the depth of the political crisis and absence of serious and radical solution."

"Prisons, torture, starvation and marginalization practiced by the regime demonstrate the lack of national consensus, and reveal the extent of lies and fraud in slogans that talk about tolerance and coexistence that the regime uses as a means to escape discontent and general popular rejection."

Al-Wefaq again called for "developing plans for national salvation, returning to the people, stopping crimes, violations and human rights abuses, and building a serious and comprehensive political process that contributes to building a real national consensus instead of the prevailing security grip."

The Interior Ministry's statement came after the arrest of dozens of citizens who were illegally abducted from the streets during the 12th anniversary of the start of the ongoing popular movement demanding justice, democracy and freedom.

On the other hand, Al-Wefaq condemned the annulment of the acquittal issued against Fadeela Abdulrasoul, 56, considering that its annulment "is a malicious verdict previously issued for political reasons and the acquittal was canceled for the same reasons."
