Bahrain Mirror: Family of political prisoner Habib Abdulhussein Habib said they exhausted all ways to enable their detained son receive his right to treatment.
The family demanded Habib's release, as he had not received proper treatment for his knee injury which he sustained in an accident since more than a month. His pains are still increasing and had not yet been examined by a doctor.
According to human rights activist Ibtisam Al Sayegh, "Habib was arrested at the age of 17 and has served 6 years of his sentence so far. He was granted release under alternative sentences; however, the prison administration did not release him because it discovered that there is another verdict issued against him over a political background, which is contrary to the Corrective Justice Law for Children and their Protection from Ill-Treatment."
For its part, Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain condemned Habib's continued detention and denial of medical treatment. The ADHRB held the relevant institutions such as the Ombudsman and National Institute for Human Rights accountable and demanded his unconditional release along with all political prisoners.
"According to the Corrective Justice Law for Children and their Protection from Ill-Treatment, Habib is supposed to return to his family, but unfortunately he is still in Jaw prison, deprived of the most basic rights, namely medical care," the organization said.
