Protests Staged in Bahrain on 6th Anniversary of Opposition Leader Arrest

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain witnessed on Monday (December 28, 2020) vast protests demanding the release of opposition leader, Sheikh Ali Salman, on his sixth arrest anniversary.

Al-Wefaq Secretary-General is serving a life sentence for collaborating with Qatar, this charge came over the Saudi, Emirati and Bahraini dispute escalation with Qatar.

The demonstrators carried photos of Al-Wefaq Secretary-General and chanted slogans demanding his immediate release.

All the leaders of the popular protests Bahrain witnessed during the Arab Spring are in prison.

Human rights groups hope that the Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa's assumption of the prime minister post will lead to some progress on human rights issues.

King Hamad bin Isa appointed his son as prime minister, replacing his uncle Khalifa bin Salman, who has been in office for more than 49 years.
