Bahrain Mirror: Torture crimes have become a key pillar of Bahraini regime's governance , deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society said.

Speaking on the occasion of International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, ‎Sheikh Hussain Al-Daihi, said that "as a result of the absence of popular participation in policy-making and managing the country, and the regime's continued absenting and undermining the political right, torture crimes have become a clear feature and a key pillar in the repression options, especially with a judiciary that is far away from independence, and formal human rights institutions that whitewash Bahrain's image."

He stressed that "thousands of prisoners suffered from torture brutality. Some of them died at the hands of executioners, and others are still suffering in prisons. Other prisoners were released with permanent disabilities and diseases, and some experienced repeated death due to the humiliating and brutal torture. There is a different story, suffering and victim in every prison."

The Deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq recalled a number of "martyrs who died under torture in Bahrain's prisons," indicating that killers have not been held accountable to this day. The martyrs are: Isa Radhi Al-Radhi, Abdulaziz Jouma'a Ayad, Hassan Jassim Mohammed Makki Al-Fardan, Ali Isa Saqr, Zakaria Rashid Hassan Al-Ashiri, Abdulkarim Fakhrawi, Jaaar Al-Dirazi and Mohammad Sahwan.
