Bahrain Mirror: The Deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq Islamic National Society, Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, said that the massacre committed by the regime three years ago in Al-Diraz, which claimed the lives of 5 martyrs, aimed at "ending the leadership of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim, who enjoyed an internal and external consensus rarely to be seen in our political movement, and the result was a total failure of the regime's political objectives."

On the third anniversary of this massacre which falls on, May 23, Sheikh Al-Daihi wrote on Twitter "On the anniversary of May 23, 2017, I salute the youth of sacrifice, and all those who have made efforts, stood up and protested, and who has been a protector and defender of Ayatollah Qassim for several months. They are the legend of men in a time of failure."

Whenever I read in the biography of the martyrs, I bow to them, and I stand ashamed in front before their honorable lives, which were full of serenity and purity. Their bodies died but their sprits and thought remain among us."

He stressed that "May 23, 2017, is the anniversary of the heinous crime committed by the regime in storming the field of sacrifice in Diraz, which left martyrs, injuries, arrests and a house arrest for Ayatollah Qassim."

"However, this day gives us many lessons: a wise and divine leadership that was not broken by the regime's oppression and people unbeatable will."

"The Massacre of Diraz on May 27 was not a decision to end the longest peaceful gathering Bahrain has ever witnessed through fierce repression, but rather a decision to end the leadership of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim, who enjoyed an internal and external consensus in our political movement, and the result was a total failure of the regime's political objectives," Sheikh Al-Daihi said.
