Bahrain Mirror: The Civil Service Council suspended 7 officials in the tourism sector after they submitted a letter to Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa on administrative abuses carried out by Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Zayed Al-Zayani.
Zayed Al-Zayani is considered one of the ministers affiliated with the crown prince's wing and has close relations with him.
After the letter was circulated on media and social media outlets, the Crown Prince ordered the formation of a commission of inquiry headed by the Interior Minister to "verify the intent of defamation", which appeared to target the complainants.
The Civil Service Council said in a statement on Thursday (August 1, 2019) that it has decided to suspend the employees who have signed the circulated letter, pending further investigation. The Civil Service Council also instructed the formation of disciplinary committees in accordance with the provisions of the Kingdom's Civil Service Law, in order to take the necessary procedures based on the results of the investigation.
