“Religious Persecution in Bahrain” Conference Held Today in Beirut

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain Interfaith Center organized a conference on "Religious Persecution in Bahrain" that was held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to highlight the severe deterioration of religious freedoms witnessed in Bahrain and the abuses that Bahrainis are subjected to in particular.
The conference was attended by a number of international and Bahraini organizations, including Amnesty International and Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR). The speakers addressed the US State Department's report on religious freedom, sectarian discrimination in the practice of religion and restrictions on freedom of expression in the island kingdom, particularly restrictions on religious freedoms in Bahrain's prisons.
Bahrain has witnessed recent painful events in recently, as the Bahraini authorities continue to disregard local and international laws and customs, and practice systematic violations of religious freedoms, according to experts from the United Nations and international organizations concerned with the issue of religious freedom.
