Muslim Congresswoman Ilhan Omar Demands Sheikh Ali Salman’s Release

Bahrain Mirror: Muslim Congresswoman Ilhan Omar joined the calls to release Bahraini opposition leader Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society Sheikh Ali Salman whom the cassation court has recently upheld his life term, which has drawn wide criticism from the international community.
Ilhan Omar commented via her Twitter account saying "Free speech and association are essential to a democratic society. Ali Salman is being punished for being a member of the political opposition."
On November 6, 2018, she became the first Somali American elected to the United States Congress. Along with Rashida Tlaib.
Ilhan Omar has become one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress.
