Shiite Cleric Mohammed Saeed Al-Aradi Summoned on Charge of “Insulting a Sect”

Bahrain Mirror: Director-General of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security announced that a Bahraini (Sheikh Mohammed Saeed Al-Aradi, 54 years) was summoned for posting tweets disrespecting a sect in Bahrain.

He said that article 310 of the Penal Code law state: "A prison sentence for a period not exceeding a year or a fine not exceeding BD 100 shall be the penalty for any person who commits in public an insult against a symbol or a person being glorified or considered sacred to members of a particular sect".

He indicated that legal proceedings were taken, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution.

Al-Aradi had posted tweets via his Twitter account discussing some historic incidents that took place after the death of Prophet Mohammad.
