Imprisoned Bahraini Activist Attends Daughter’s Wedding in Sharia Court

Bahrain Mirror: Imprisoned human rights activist Naji Fateel celebrated on Wednesday (April 18, 2018) another birthday of his behind bars in Jaw Central Prison, where he is serving a 15-year prison term for participating in pro-democracy protests.
Fateel also attended on Thursday the wedding of his daughter, Alyaa, as he was transferred to the Sharia court to attend the event.
Human rights activist tweeted Ebtisam Al-Sayegh tweeted: "The steadfast Bahraini human rights defender Naji Fateel in court this morning, but he wasn't a defendant. He was there to do what every father wishes to do, i.e. to attend his daughter's (Alyaa) wedding ceremony. Congratulations, O free man."
"Congratulations to family of prisoner of conscience Naji Fateel. Freedom for him and for every prisoner of conscience in Bahrain," said activist Yousif Almuhafdah who resides in Germany.
"Our sincere congratulations to you my daughter Alyaa, daughter of activist Naji Fateel. May it be a blessed wedding. Freedom for your father and for every oppressed person," said Fatima Haroun, prisoner Ahamd Al-Arab's mother, who is sentenced to life in prison.
