Bahrain Mirror: The British Reprieve Organization urged to sign an online petition to call on the UK government to end its assistance to Bahrain's death penalty system and take steps to prevent Mohammad Ramadan's execution.
The petition mentioned that Mohammad is a father of three and that he was tortured and sentenced to death in Bahrain for attending a pro-democracy protest.
The UK government has provided 5 million pounds to the system that made death sentences and executions in Bahrain possible- training police officers, prosecutors, and even the death row guards.
The organization demanded Bahrain to stop the executions against the political dissidents, urging the UK PM Theresa May to end assistance to Bahrain's death penalty system and call on the Bahraini government to stop the execution of Mohammed Ramadan and other people facing execution after unfair trials.
15,512 people have signed the petition so far.
It is to mention that Mohammad was arrested from Bahrain International Airport, where he worked as a police officer. He was accused of involvement in an attack on other police officers, despite a total lack of evidence tying him to the crime. Mohammad was arrested in retaliation for his attendance at peaceful pro-democracy demonstration.
He was brutally tortured by police into signing a false confession, despite his innocence. Mohammad was convicted and sentenced to death almost solely on the basis of confessions extracted through prolonged torture. All of Mohammad's legal appeals have now been exhausted, and his execution may be carried out any day.
