Prosecution Renews Detention of Shiite Cleric Sayed Mohieldin Al-Mashaal for One Week Pending Investigation

Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution extended on Wednesday (August 23, 2017) the detention of Shiite cleric Sayed Mohieldin Al-Mashaal for one week pending investigation.
The authorities accuse Al-Mashaal of "inciting hatred against the regime"; a charge they usually use to confront right to freedom of expression in the country.
The authorities arrested Sayed Al-Mashaal on Monday (August 14, 2017) while returning from Kuwait, on King Fahd Causeway and transferred him arrested to the prosecution.
The Shiite cleric has been harassed by the Bahraini authorities throughout the past 5 years. He was also prevented from entering the Emirates based on ban lists issued by Bahraini security authorities.
