Bahrain Mirror: President of Bahrain Center for Human Rights and prominent human rights activist Nabeel Rajab is supposed to appear today (May 16, 2017) before the court in a case related to television interviews over which the authorities accuse of disseminating "false information".
A new session for Rajab is going to be held tomorrow morning in a case linked to tweets in which he is accused of insulting Saudi Arabia and Bahraini Ministry of Interior, over the background of criticizing war on Yemen and torture in Jaw Prison.
The authorities have launched the harshest campaign ever against the opposition since June 2016, through arresting prominent human rights defender Nabeel Rajab, dissolving Al-Wefaq Society; Bahrain's biggest opposition association, and revoking the citizenship of the Shiite majority spiritual leader, Sheikh Isa Qassim.
Rajab's arrest was condemned by Bahrain's key ally, United States that publicly called to drop the charges against him and release him immediately.
Rajab has been in solitary confinement since his arrest which made his health deteriorates. The authorities had to transfer him to the hospital as a result, noting that he has recently underwent a surgery due to his health condition.
