Bahrain Mirror-Exclusive: The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) issued a report which is a summary of the information mentioned in the reports of treaty bodies and special procedures in the UN documents relevant to Bahrain.
The 15-page report includes 62 points about Bahrain in which the United Nations Country Team Report for the Universal Periodic Review of Bahrain expressed concern about "the latest measures taken by the Bahraini authorities to restrict movement of citizens". In May 2016, the authorities imposed travel ban on number of human rights defenders. After the authorities revoked the citizenship of Sheikh Isa Qassim, they imposed restrictions on the movement of citizens heading to Diraz in an attempt to limit the rallies and sit-ins staged by supporters of Sheikh Qassim. At the level of Bahrain international obligations and cooperation with the mechanisms and international human rights bodies, the UN team said that political situation in Bahrain has stagnated since the second session of UPR in 2012 and that although 3 rounds of national dialogue have been witnessed in Bahrain, they had no significant impact on changing the political scene in the country.
