Geneva: Canada Demands Bahrain to halt Dissolutions of Opposition Parties

Bahrain Mirror - Exclusive: Canada demanded the government of Bahrain to halt its policy of dissolving opposition political parties, and urged it to allow peaceful protests and abolish penalties on assembly.
In its intervention on Monday (May 1, 2017) during the 27th UPR session in Geneva on Bahrain's human rights record, Canada said it encourages "Bahrain to empower human rights institutions to help hold the government accountable." It also called for lifting restrictions on "organizing peaceful demonstrations, abolishing penalty on assembly, and lift restrictions on association."
Moreover, Canada called on Bahrain to lift all restrictions on "publishing, media, and press statements in Bahrain", and recommended it lifts restrictions on establishing political associations, and halts dissolving those already established.
