Bahrain Mirror: The Parliamentary Committee on Public Utilities and Environment rejected a proposal for a law that conditions 10 years on Bahraini naturalization before someone is entitled for housing services. On its part, the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee believed that this proposal is unconstitutional.
The committee based its rejection on Article (18) of the constitution, which stipulates, "People are equal in human dignity, and citizens shall be equal in public rights and duties before the law, without discrimination as to race, origin, language, religion or belief."
The Parliament is supposed to discuss the aforementioned proposal in its next session on Tuesday (March 21, 2017).
