Bahrain Mirror: The high appeals court presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa and Naji Abdullah as secretariat refused the objection of a defendant in a case of attempting to murder a policeman.

The accused was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison, which made him appeal the verdict issued against him. However, as the defendant did not appear before the court, it refused the objection he presented.

The high criminal court handed down 15-year jail term to 5 suspects over assembling, attempting to kill two policemen and damaging police patrol in Sanad and obliged them to pay 6945 Dinar and 500 Fils for the damages. The court also acquitted a suspect for lack of charges against him.

Each of lawyers Jassim Serhan, Abdulaziz Al-Mousa and Mohammad Al-Jishi accompanied the suspect and presented their pleas.

The authorities, for their part, claim that a number of protestors took to the streets at 8:00 PM on August 26, 2016 in Sanad and attacked policemen with Molotov aiming at killing them, which led to burning a part of the police patrol.
