Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini Appeal Court upheld verdict, sentencing in absentia two appellants to 10 years in prison and refused the appeals of another.

The high criminal court had sentenced 4 defendants to 10 years in prison over burning tires in A'ali and burning a car of a former member of parliament through hurling Molotov Cocktails against it.

The Public Prosecution accused the suspects of burning tires. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution charged them with deliberately setting fire to number of tires, endangering people's lives and money, taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly, as well as acquiring Molotov.

The Public Prosecution indicated that on August 3, 2014, the defendants, along with other unknown suspects, deliberately set fire to tires endangering people's lives and money, took part in an assembly of more than 5 people, using violence to achieve the aim they gathered for, as well as acquiring Molotov and damaging the body and glass of the former MP's car.

Since 2012, riot cases that go under the demonstrations and riot section of the penal code were adapted to apply to the terrorism law, if there were "terrorist" purposes behind them, such as attempted murder of a police officer, violating the provisions of law and endangering the lives of people and their properties, within the regime's framework of harshening penalties against protestors and activists.
