Bahrain Mirror: In a session held Saturday morning (August 27, 2016), the Progressive Democratic Tribune revealed a number of shocking facts about Bahrain's Social Insurance Organization, based on official figures.
"Allowance to improve cost-of-living of retirees is expended from the insurance budget," said former MP Abdulnabi Salman, adding that it was confirmed by a Financial and Administrative Control Bureau report. The report also noted that the "unfunded" actuarial deficit reached approximately 7 .5 billion BD, 8.8 % higher than that of 2014 (6.913 billion BD).
"The number of Bahraini employees amounts to only 57.237 with 25.250 foreign employees on the other hand. The government; however, doesn't make its foreign workers, who are treated in state hospitals, pay a single fils for insurance," Salman further explained.
