Paris Concerned over 9-Year Prison Sentence Handed down to Sheikh Ali Salman

Bahrain Mirror: France expressed its concern regarding the nine-year prison sentence handed down by a Bahraini appeals court to Sheikh Ali Salman, the opposition leader and Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society.
In a statement published on its official website on (May 30, 2016), Paris said that it followed Salman's trial "closely".
Concluding its statement, it further stressed on its attachment to "freedom of opinion and expression, as well as to the right to a fair and equitable trial, principles that form the basis of all aspects of democratic politics."
