Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's main opposition group, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, rejected the ruling issued by the appeals court against opposition leader and Al-Wefaq Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman, sentencing him to 9 years in prison.
In a statement issued on Monday (May 30, 2016), Al-Wefaq stressed that the appeals court's verdict is "unacceptable and provocative," adding that it is indicative of the authorities' disregard of calls for finding a solution, and "blocks any chance to resolve the political crisis" in the country.
Sheikh Salman was serving a 4-year jail term. The appeals court; however, decided to toughen the prison sentence to 9 years.
