Bahrain Mirror: The Legal and Legislative Committee of the Consultative Council (Shura), the Bahraini Parliament's upper house, approved the amendments proposed by lawmakers in a motion to the provisions of Political Society Law 26/2005.
The committee had discussed article 5 of the aforementioned law and the addition of a new clause, which stipulates that any individual, who is a member of a political group, should not preach or deliver religious sermons, even if without charge.
The lawmakers supporting the motion stressed that it does not target religious figures, arguing that it would ensure that political actions are not given a religious dimension, and religious acts are not politicized. They further stated that religion should be separated from politics.
