Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Thousands of mourners took part in a funeral procession held in Shaherkan, south of the Bahraini capital Manama on Tuesday (April 5, 2016) for martyr Ali Abdulghani (18 years old), who passed away after sustaining severe injuries during his arrest on Thursday (March 31, 2016).

Although the Interior Ministry claimed that Abdulghani fell off the rooftop of a building while attempting to flee arrest, it was clear that he had many bruises on different parts of his body.

Dr. Fatima Al-Halwachi, who was among the medical team that was arrested for treating protestors in 2011, wondered how Abdulghani sustained injuries on his chest.

On her personal Twitter account, she said: "The question is ‘why are there injuries on the chest area?' For if he had fallen from a height in an attempt to flee, it stands to reason that he would have fallen vertically and sustained fractures in his legs and pelvis."

Mourners held the Interior Ministry fully accountable for the incident, chanting anti-government slogans, such as "Down down Hamad," referring to the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Bahraini regime forces cracked down on mourners with tear gas canisters and sound grenades, and then chased them down into residential areas, launching a campaign of house raids and brutal arrests.

The authorities; however, released detainee Jamil Abdulghani so he would attend his brother's funeral.

A number of political and human rights groups had called on the authorities to launch an immediate and independent investigation into the incident that led to Abdulghani's death, noting that the Interior Ministry's information raises doubts.
