Bahrain Mirror: A number of areas across Bahrain witnessed protests on Sunday (April 3, 2016) on the third and final day of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Protestors held pictures of detainees who were arrested by the Bahraini authorities during the F1 tournaments held in the past few years, as the authorities intensify, during this sports event, their crackdown on peaceful protestors and dissent, calling for putting an end to the ruling Al Khalifa family's monopoly over power.
Demonstrators demanded the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to cancel the tournament, stressing that the regime has been exploiting this event to cover up its ongoing human rights violations over the past 5 years.
In various areas across the country, protestors set tires ablaze, expressing their frustration, while the Interior Ministry deployed more security forces in predominantly anti-government areas west and south of the Bahraini capital Manama to prevent protestors from reaching the main streets leading to the race track in Sakhir.
