Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Judicial Council head and Cassation Court president, Salim bin Mohammed Al-Kuwari, received in his office the International Expert in Courts and Judiciary Management at the United Kingdom, Joy Coles, and International Expert Steven Logan.
According to the state's media, the visit of both experts to the Supreme Judicial Council, aims at benefiting from British expertise in the judicial field by having effective work relations in the secretariat of the Supreme Judicial Council that would lead to understanding and setting the SJC's goals for 2020 and the regulatory policy. This is aimed at increasing the operational efficiency of the judicial system in a way that promotes justice, independency and protection of rights and freedoms through developing all the directorates and departments of the SJC's General Secretariat (judges affairs, legal affairs, human resources, public relations and information technology) and restoring the framework that supports the strategy of judicial authority and decision making in line with the King's reforming project, especially on the judicial and legal aspects.
Since 2011, through its different apparatuses, Bahrain has sought the assistance of British expertise represented in costly contracts, which led Britain to stand entirely by the regime's side against the nationwide popular protests.
The most important areas in which Bahrain sought the assistance of Britain were linked to the police, prisoners' commission, Ombudsman, Public Prosecution and Ministry of Human Rights.
