Jaw Prison Prevents Dr. Ali Al-Ekri from Attending Uncle’s Funeral

Bahrain Mirror: Lawyer Hameed Al-Mulla stated that the administration of Jaw Central Prison refused to allow detained Dr. Ali Al-Ekri to attend the funeral of his uncle, Haj Hassan Al-Ekri, considering that attending a funeral is "the prisoners' most basic rights."
In a number of tweets he posted on his personal account, Al-Mulla stressed that the prison administrations "should treat detainees well and treat them like human beings instead of abuse, for the rights stated in international treaties and conventions are clear."
Dr. Ali Al-Ekri was sentenced to 15 years in prison but the sentence was commuted to 5 years imprisonment, over his participation in the treatment of the injured protestors during the widespread demonstrations that erupted in February 2011.
