Bahrain Mirror: The local Bahraini Al-Bilad newspaper, owned by Ali bin Khalifa, the Prime Minister's son, said that the Bahraini government is leaning towards gradually raising the retirement age during the coming years to 65. It may be raised more, said the newspaper, noting that it is currently at age 60.

The newspaper explained that there are "committees working on conducting serious studies for raising the retirement age. There is more than one scenario in this regard. Raising the retirement age includes several measures like the arithmetic calculation of the pension salary and life span."

The study will take a year to a year and a half. The government will then refer it to the Parliament and Shura council that will either reject or approve the project without amending it.
