Bahrain Mirror: The Denmark representative in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Marie Louise Witter, said that her government demands "the release of all those who were arbitrarily detained in Bahrain".

In her comments before the Human Rights Council, Witter expressed her country's "deep" concern over "the situation of human rights activists in Bahrain, including the Danish-Bahraini citizen Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, whom we consider a victim of torture. We urge Bahrain to release all those who were arbitrarily detained and take all the suitable measures regarding the reports that talk about maltreatment and torture in detention centers."

It is noteworthy that Denmark was among the 33 states that signed, during the opening of the human rights council session that took place on Monday (September 14, 2015), a statement in which it expressed its concerns regarding the human rights situation in Bahrain, and called for resuming an open and inclusive dialogue and approving the visit of the UN special rapporteur on torture to Bahrain.
