Bahrain Mirror: The United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances asked Bahrain about information regarding its steps to prevent cases of enforced disappearance.

In its report submitted to the UN Human Rights Council 30th session that kicked off in Geneva on Monday (September 14, 2015), the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances expressed its gratitude to the Bahraini government for its response to the general request issued by the group on September 23, 2014, calling on the government, at the same time, to present any additional information about the specific steps that it took to prevent and put an end to the short-term enforced disappearances.

The group also asked the government to inform it about the measures taken to guarantee presenting any accurate information immediately about those detained to their families, pursuant to paragraph 2 of article 10 of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance that stipulates: "Accurate information on the detention of such persons and their place or places of detention, including transfers shall be made promptly available to their family members, their counsel or to any other persons having a legitimate interest in the information unless a wish to the contrary has been manifested by the persons concerned."
