Bahrain Mirror: Lawyer Mohammed Al-Jishi said that the Public Prosecution stopped the renewal of the pretrial detention of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) president, human rights activist Nabeel Rajab "over the charge related to his tweets about the Jaw Prison abuses" among other charges linked to his opposition to the war on Yemen.

However, Al-Jishi highlighted that this step does not mean "releasing Nabeel Rajab" for he is "serving the six-month-sentence over the charge of posting tweets against the ministry of interior."

Rajab was taken into custody on April 2, 2015 after a group of security forces surrounded his house. Meanwhile, the prosecution accused him of charges related to tweets he posted on Twitter, through which he criticized the war against Yemen and tackled the human rights abuses in Jaw prison, and ordered his arrest pending investigation. His detention was renewed within the entire last period for the purpose of keeping him in prison.

A Bahraini appeals court upheld a six-month jail sentence against Nabeel Rajab on May 14, 2015 after accusing him of insulting the ministries of interior and defence.

It is expected that the prosecution will raise the second case against Rajab after he finishes serving his term in order to guarantee keeping him in prison as long as possible.
