Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): In response to a question about the White House's opinion on the Bahraini king attending a horse show in the United Kingdom instead of attending the Camp David summit, the Press Office Director, Jeff Rathke, said: "The important thing in this meeting with GCC leaders has been that the right people are in the discussions to carry out these kinds of important security and regional cooperation concerns."
Rathke's comments were made during the State Department's Daily Press Briefing that was held on May 14, 2015 in Washington, DC.
"I think I'd refer you to Bahraini authorities for their assessment of that. I think, as my colleagues from the White House have said, the important thing in this meeting with GCC leaders has been that the right people are in the discussions to carry out these kinds of important security and regional cooperation concerns," Rathke stated.
Commenting on his response, the reporter further asked: "If he wasn't one of the right people, why did you invite him?"
"Well, that was a Bahraini decision who would attend on their behalf. I don't have a comment on," Rathke stressed.
