CPJ: US State Department should Call on Bahrain to Immediately Release Al-Singace, Al-Jaziri and Other Imprisoned Journalists
CPJ said that during the US-Bahrain Strategic Dialogue, the US Secretary of State should call for the release of Abduljalil Al-Singace, Mahmoud Al-Jaziri and all other imprisoned journalists, demand accountability for Ahmed Ismail Hassan's death and call for an end to Bahrain's press freedom crackdown.

Bahrain Press Association (BPA) condemned transferring imprisoned journalist Mahmoud Al-Jaziri to solitary confinement for reporting on conditions inside Bahraini prisons and lack of real precautionary measures to confront Coronavirus, and held the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) responsible.

In an audio recording from inside prison, imprisoned journalist Mahmoud Al-Jaziri explained that the statement of Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR), and other members, aired on Bahrain television, regarding their alleged visit to the prison for the purpose of protecting the prisoners is "merely a play that has nothing to do with reality".
