Bahrain Mirror: US Senators sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressing concern over the government of Bahrain's terrible human rights record, threating that lack of stability would ultimately affect US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

The Senators said "They are concerned that the government of Bahrain's violent, systemic repression will breed resentment and instability, and could ultimately threaten the long-term presence of the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet."

"We need to know the Biden administration's response to the violations in Bahrain," they said in their letter to Blinken.

This letter comes following human rights reports issued by the US State Department for 2020, released in March 2021, which accused the Bahraini government of violence against its citizens in prisons.

The report shed the light on important human rights issues including: torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, harsh prison conditions, including lack of adequate medical care in prisons, arbitrary arrests, political prisoner, arbitrary or unlawful interference with privacy, restrictions on freedom of expression as well as other violations.
