Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Cabinet announced on Monday extending the 50% wage support of citizens working in the sectors affected with Coronavirus until the end of this year.

The Cabinet explained in a statement that the government will continue to pay 50% of the salaries of insured Bahraini citizens working in the most adversely affected enterprises within the private sector for a period of three months, starting from October 2020 - a move that will benefit 23,000 Bahraini citizens and 4,000 establishments.

The Cabinet also decided to exempt tourist facilities from tourism fees for an additional 3 months, starting from October 2020.

Bahrain, a small oil producer with an average of 300,000 barrels per day, relies on crude revenues as a major source of income, at a time oil prices are at low levels.

Bahrain's economy was affected by the Coronavirus outbreak, prompting the government to approve a stimulus package of 4.3 billion dinars ($11.4 billion) in March as a top priority to support the economy in the face of the pandemic.
