Qatari Emir Appoints New PM

Bahrain Mirror: Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani accepted on Tuesday (January 28, 2020) the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. The emir named Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani as the new prime minister.

Abdulaziz Al Thani had been severing as the head of the Emiri Diwan since Nov. 11, 2014, and before that he worked as director of the Emir's office.

He was born in Doha in 1968, where he received his pre-university schooling. He then obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in the United States of America in 1993. At the beginning of his career, he worked at Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited, until 2002. He later served from 2002 to 2006 in the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Emir ordered forming the cabinet as follows:

Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister, as Minister of Interior.

Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs.

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Ali Shareef Al Emadi as Minister of Finance.

Gaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari as Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali as Minister of Culture and Sports.

Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi as Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs.

Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi as  Minister of Education and Higher Education.

Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti as Minister of Transport and Communications.

Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari as Minister of Public Health.

Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie as Minister of Municipality and Environment.

Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari as Minister of Trade and Industry.

Yousuf Mohamed Al Othman Fakhroo as Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs.

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi as Minister of State for Energy Affairs as member of the Council of Ministers.
