Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: A British citizen tried to deliver a letter in the name of British people in solidarity with the demands of Bahraini activist Ali Mushaima in allowing his political detainee father, Hasan Mushaima, receive medical care and his right to visitation.

Wendy Horler said in a tweet on her own Twitter account on Thursday (August 16, 2018): "Tried to give a letter in to the Bahraini Embassy about Hassan Mushaima. They shut the door in my face and scurried out of the lobby. Really stupid behaviour. It was a letter not a bomb!"

In the letter she wrote on Tuesday (August 14, 2018), the British citizen addressed the Bahraini Ambassador to London Fawaz bin Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa saying: "I am writing to ask you to use your influence in securing proper medical treatment to Hasan [Mushaima]. It [this step] would be regarded in a very positive light by many British people who have serious concerns about Bahrain's human rights record. These concerns are being highlighted by the presence of Ali Mushaima, on hunger strike for two weeks now, outside your embassy."

"The views of Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society secretary general Faisal Fulad are not considered by the public to be impartial. Indeed the aggressive nature of his statement has had a detrimental impact on public opinion. The British people would greatly respect an act of kindness and humanity by the Bahraini government and I ask you again to please exert all your influence in this regard," the letter added.

A video showing the activist trying to enter the Bahraini embassy in order to deliver her letter to the ambassador went viral on social media. However, the door was shut in her face. She then addressed the people working in the embassy saying "This seems quite absurd. What on earth can be preventing me from handing the letter?"

She wondered "Is it that you can't shoot me like you'd [you would] to the demonstrators in Bahrain?"

The activist put the letter at the end in the embassy's letter box.

Wendy Horler is an activist in the British Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT). She is known for her criticizing stances to the Bahraini authorities and UK government due its continued arms deals with Manama.

Many activists and human rights defenders published photos on social media outlets showing her with Ali Mushaima, who has been on hunger strike for about 2 weeks in front of the Bahraini Embassy in London, expressing their solidarity with him in his protest against the Bahraini authorities.
