Bahrain Mirror: Baqer Darwish, the president of Bahrain Forum for Human Rights, said that "Saudi Arabia committed on Monday (May 29, 2023) an extrajudicial killing crime by executing two Bahraini youths (Sadiq Thamer and Jaafar Sultan) following a sham trial based on confessions extracted under torture."
Darwish said in a tweet that "the execution of Thamer and Sultan" is the ninth political and arbitrary death sentence carried out since the beginning of 2023.
He also pointed out that "On May 8, 2015, the Bahraini authorities arrested Sultan and Thamer and held them incommunicado in solitary confinement (in a prison in the city of Dammam) for three and a half months," adding that "the authorities only allowed them to contact their families after 115 days of their arrest."
"The prison officials didn't allow them to talk about their arrest conditions," he further stated.
In October 2021, the Riyadh-based Specialized Criminal Court for "terrorism" issued death sentence verdicts against Thamer and Sultan.
About one year later, the same court upheld the sentence issued against the two martyrs.
