On Int'l Labour Day: Al-Wefaq Says Bahraini Workers' Conditions Still the Same Due to Retaliation and Foreigners Favoring

Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq Society confirmed that the conditions of Bahraini workers have been the same for years due to absence of reform and the will for change and the prevailing policies of discrimination, marginalization and retaliation.

Al-Wefaq stressed in a statement marking the International Labour Day that "Bahraini workers deserve empowerment, equal opportunities, increase in wages, and most important making them feel prior over others. The policies of favoring foreigners and empowering them in the labor market continue in the country, which frustrates citizens."

Meanwhile, the Bahraini workers' cry is stifled as the authorities suppress freedoms, pursue free voices, prevent demonstrations and besiege trade union activism.

Al-Wefaq called on the government of Bahrain "to address the deteriorating labor, in addition to the wages problem, poverty, unemployment, job discrimination, and difficult labor conditions," highlighting the need to "allow workers to exercise their freedoms to express their concerns."
