Bahrain Mirror: Preacher of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz, Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour, said that "foreigners are now occupying various high and low-level jobs in the private sector and ministries and are taking over the labor market," warning that this "exacerbates the unemployment crisis and prevents its addressing."

Sheikh Sanqour affirmed, in his Friday sermon on April 28, 2023, that "it is no longer a secret to anyone how much does foreign labor affect the complexity of the unemployment crisis, which severely affects citizens without a horizon to be resolved," warning that "foreigners are now occupying various high and low-level jobs in the private sector, ministries, large companies and other departments and institutions, and they are taking over the labor market and most small and medium businesses."

"This exacerbates the unemployment crisis and prevents its addressing, along with its consequences, such as rampant poverty, low wages and the failure of national projects, in addition to the impact of expatriate and surplus workers on the quality of services and their inability to contain this huge number," he stressed.

Sheikh Sanqour noted that "foreign labor is imported as much as needed, and the estimation of the imported number is based on a careful, honest and sincere study of the homeland and citizens, and then work is done on a permanent review to verify the continued need for the specified number."

He highlighted that "whenever there is no need for the number, it is necessary, in the interest of the country, to reduce it (foreign labor) within the limits of necessity," warning that "opening the door wide for foreigners to invest in them, through them, or in favorite of influential people and capital owners harm the interest of the homeland, threaten economic and societal security."
