Bahrain Mirror: Emirati human rights defender Alaa Al-Siddiq died on Saturday (June 19, 2021) in London.

Alaa was the CEO of the UK-based ALQST, a non-profit organization that advocates for greater freedoms and human rights in the UAE and the wider Gulf region.

Activists said that Alaa was killed in a car accident in London.

Alaa has been active in defending her father, who has been held in UAE prisons since 2013, and had to leave her country, the UAE, because of her human rights activities, to settle in Qatar before heading to the UK to seek political asylum.
