Bahrain Population will Exceed 2 Million by 2030

Bahrain Mirror: The Information and e-Government Authority estimations showed that the population of the Kingdom of Bahrain will increase over the next 10 years to reach 2 million and 2.39 thousand in 2030.

According to the mid-year projections report for Bahrain's population, the population of the Kingdom of Bahrain this year is approximately 1.5 million, and the number will increase gradually, reaching one million and 1.578 thousand next year.

Population projections are estimates of total size of population for the future by the "Cohort Component Method", considering the current scenario under certain assumptions. The actual July 2019 population is used as a correction factor to revise the earlier population projections.

The report sets the forecast for Bahrain's population until 2032, with a population of 2.152 million.

According to the latest statistics issued by the Information and e-Government Authority, the total population during the past year 2019 declined to 1,484,000, including 702,000 Bahrainis, 356,000 of whom male and 346,000 females. Meanwhile, the total population was around 1,503,000 in 2018.

With regard to the distribution of the population by governorates, the statistics indicated that the largest percentage of people live in the Capital governorate, and amounts to about 539 thousand people, including 370,000 non-Bahrainis. Meanwhile, the population of Muharraq governorate is 268,000, where the population of Bahrainis and non-Bahrainis are equal in number; 134,000 each. The population of the Northern governorate is 370,000, and the number of Bahrainis is more than double that of non-Bahrainis, while the population of the Southern governorate is 306,000.
