Bahrain Mirror: Anadolu News Agency said that Bahrain signed an agreement with the leading Turkish defense and tech firm ASELSAN to supply Bahrain with a remote-controlled weapon system for the country's naval forces, despite the financial difficulties the Kingdom is witnessing and the tensed relations with Istanbul.

ASELSAN signed a sales contract to supply Bahrain with an advanced remote-controlled system for naval use, a statement by the company said Wednesday.

The firm aims to maintain its momentum in exports and production this year following a record-breaking year in 2019, the statement added.

ASELSAN plans to make further investments and step up activities with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states in general and Bahrain in particular, it stressed.

Bahrain is experiencing financial difficulties due the Coronavirus pandemic consequences and the collapse of oil prices due to Saudi Arabia's entering into a price war with major producers such as Russia.

Since the gulf crisis erupted and Turkey took a biased stance towards Qatar, relations between the boycotting countries and Turkey became tensed. Besides, the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul has led to further tensions.
