Bahrain Mirror: The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) denied presence of any defect in the smart meters, adding that they are accurate and selected according to high international standards.

It added in a press release that all the meters installed have undergone careful routine inspections in the factory, stressing the safety and accuracy of smart meters. EWA stated that they are certified and approved in accordance with international standards for the manufacture of smart meters.

As for the smart meters the company supplied to a U.S. company in 2011, the manufacturer explained that it sold more than 3 million meters at that time and that less than 1,600 meters were repaired and reused.
