Bahrain Mirror: Minister of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Essam Khalaf rejected a municipal proposal to abolish building permit fees and insurance payments imposed by the ministry on housing units for government housing projects.
Khalaf said that all building permit fees are subject to the provisions of the Building Regulation Law, and none of these fees is to be abolished except by law in the light of the constitutional provisions established in this regard.
Last month, Muharraq Municipal Council recommended that various housing ministry projects be exempted from building permit and insurance fees, with the aim of making the best use of budgets for housing projects without deducting anything of them on fees.
