House of Representatives Approves Eliminating 1% Deduction

Bahrain Mirror: The House of Representatives approved a proposal to eliminate the 1% rate paid by the insured to the insurance account against unemployment and to limit the payment of contributions to the government and employers only.
The representative of the Government indicated that money paid for unemployment goes to Osoul Investment Company, adding that there is an actuarial expert who supervises the process.
During discussing the amendment, the MPs accused the government of spending the deducted amounts of insurance against unemployment in other resources and cutting off the aids of the unemployed arbitrarily. Meanwhile, an MP said that the unemployment fund will exceed one billion dinars in two years.
