King Hamad Grants Narendra Modi First Class Order Despite Indian Crackdown Campaign on Kashmir Muslims

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa awarded First-Class Order of Bahrain to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a time Modi's government faces wide criticism over its treatment of Muslim-majority Kashmir.

During the meeting held on Saturday (August 24, 2019), the king exaggerated his expressions of support for Indian policies and current approaches. Addressing the Indian Prime Minister, the king said "the Kingdom of Bahrain is fully convinced of the pioneering role of India at the international level, given its strategic weight and appreciated stances on many core issues. We therefore continue to work with you to maintain the security and stability of the region."

For his part, the Indian PM said "I feel very honored and fortunate to be awarded the Order. I humbly accept this prestigious honor on behalf of 1.3 billion. It is an honor for the entire India. This is a symbol of the friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and India."

The First-Class Order of Bahrain is considered one of the highest orders. There are other orders in Bahrain, including the Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Order of Al-Khalifa, the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance, the Order of Ahmad the Conqueror, the Order of Military Courage, the Order of Competence, the Medal of Military Merit, the Medal of Military Duty and the Hawar Medal.
