King Issues Decrees Reorganizing "Ministry of Industry", "Supreme Council of Youth & Sports," and Establishing Academy for Diplomatic Studies

Bahrain Mirror: King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued three royal decrees reorganizing the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, establishing academy for diplomatic studies and restructuring the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports.

He issued Decree 54/2019 on establishing the Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Diplomatic Academy.

The academy will be affiliated with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and will be managed by an Executive Director appointed by a decree in the rank of assistant undersecretary.

The academy will replace the Diplomatic Institute and will have all its jurisdictions and duties. 

All the staff of the Diplomatic Institute will be relocated to the academy according to their specific job scale, allowances and financial benefits.

Al Khalifa issued Decree 55/2019 reorganizing the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

The Royal decree stipulated the reorganizing of the ministry under the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, in charge of:

First: Directorate of Communication and Awareness.

Second: Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs, in charge of:

Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Development, in charge of:

1.   Directorate of Industrial Development.

2.   Directorate of SMEs Development.

3.   Directorate of Industrial Zones.

Third: Undersecretary for Commercial Affairs, in charge of:

Assistant Undersecretary for Commercial and Companies Registration, in charge of:

1.   Registration Directorate.

2.   Company Control Directorate.

Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic and External Trade, in charge of:

1.   Directorate of Testing and Metrology.

2.   Directorate of Consumer Protection.

3.   Directorate of Foreign Trade Relations. 

Fourth: Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources, in charge of:

1.   Directorate of Human and Financial Resources.

2.   Directorate of Informatics Systems.

3.   Inspection Directorate.

Decree 9/2016 has been rescinded regarding the reorganizing of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has been tasked to implement this Decree which becomes effective from the date of its issuance, and will be published in the Official Gazette.

The King issued Royal Order 43/2019 restructuring the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports.

The Royal Order stipulated the restructuring of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports presided over by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the following membership:

1.   Khalid bin Hamad Al Khaifa, First Vice President.

2.   Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Second Vice President.

3.   Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.

4.   Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports.

5.   Minister of Finance and National Economy.

6.   Minister of Education.

7.   Minister of Information Affairs.

8.   Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

9.   Minister of Labour and Social Development.

10. Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs.

11.  President of Bahrain Antiquities and Culture Authority.

12.   Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Women.

13.   CEO of the Economic Development Board (EDB).

14.   CEO of Tamkeen.

15.   CEO of Kuwait Finance House.

16.   Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

17.   Talal Fouad Kanoo.

18.   Zuhair Ismael Kazerooni.

19.   Tawfiq Ahmed Al-Aali.

The duration of their membership will be four years, renewable.

The Royal Order becomes effective from the date of its issuance, and will be published in the Official Gazette.
