Bahrain Mirror: The first high criminal court began the trial of two young Saudis who attempted to smuggle 890 grams of narcotics through the King Fahd Causeway after hiding the bag in the glove compartment of the car. The court decided to adjourn the case to a hearing on July 8 to inform the defendants of the referral order.
The two defendants were caught on the King Fahd Causeway during an attempt to enter Bahrain. They seemed to fluster so they were searched and nothing was found in their possession, but the detection dog gave an indication of hidden contraband in the car. The car was further searched and a bag was found containing 980 grams of Hasheesh (cannabis), strategically placed behind the control panel of the car air conditioner behind the glove compartment and thus the case was referred to the prosecution.
The prosecution accused the first defendant of entering for the purpose of trafficking a narcotic substance illegally, and the second of obtaining the substance for the purpose of abusing the narcotic substance illegally.
